My house is a mess and I have zero motivation to clean it. Did you know that homes built in the 1850's have very little storage? Oh, you did? Well, guess what? I DIDN'T! When Scott and I first looked at this home I was in such a frenzy that I didn't open ONE closet.
Complain, complain, complain...
aaand pictures...
So I came across these pictures of our kitchen just about 2 years ago this morning while trying to do anything possible to avoid the inevitable.
I can't say I miss storing the china in garage storage cabinets. Did we really stand in Home Depot and rationalize, "Well, at least it kind of looks like stainless steel?"
Who doesn't like having their washer and dryer in the kitchen? I can't count the number of PB&J's I made atop that dryer. *see above...stove died.
Sometimes I take for granted how far we've come. Things can be slow going when you are your own crew but so worth it when you are able to stand back and look at your accomplishments.

But do I really have to be the cleaning crew?
Fine...
OMG! I love this post. We too have been remodelling (5 maybe 6 yrs now I think) an old house built in 1854. No Closets and
ReplyDeletestill waiting for my dream kitchen. Your washer and dryer in the image look exactly like ours and they are still in the kitchen...hate it...can't tell you how many times they have been used as a buffet, Ironing board, craft station, table.
Oh ~ as for cleaning...I have postponed it till after Halloween ~ the atmosphere here is great! ;-)
Beautiful girls, pretty blog, and fun reading.
Have a great weekend! Will be sure to follow along ~ Rebecca
